NYSCA 2021 COVID Policy

For the health and safety of you, our NYSCA family, the Executive Council of the New York State Communication Association made the careful decision to require masking and proof of COVID vaccination or negative COVID test for participation in our upcoming conference at Villa Roma. Please see this document outlining the details of the policy.

If you have not already done so, we encourage you to pre-register for the conference to help expedite the check-in process to help avoid lines and crowds waiting at the registration table.

Other measures that are in place to help keep NYSCA safe while we enjoy reconnecting include: social distancing in the conference spaces (including the Dining Room); Villa Roma providing “to-go” meals upon request; the provision of masks, hand sanitizers, tissues, and cleansers for the conference; and Villa Roma’s own health measures, including enhanced housekeeping, staff masking and pre-shift health & temperature checks (in addition to most staff being vaccinated), and a fresh air ventilation system.

If you are a panel organizer, we ask you to help make sure your panel participants are aware of this policy. Likewise, if you are bringing students, please help us ensure that everyone is prepared upon their arrival.

The final program for the conference is now available online.

On behalf of the Executive Council, thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we navigate a safe, and highly anticipated, return to an in-person NYSCA conference. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Vice President Christina Knopf or President Noura Hajjaj.
